Environmental Branding + Design

Environmental branding, wayfinding and signage are paramount to the placemaking effort. These three elements, when combined the right way, can make or break a users experience.

Featured Installation - Cambridge Crossing

Divco West’s CX project is unique on many levels. Not the least of which is their commitment to the community and the arts. When we began the environmental branding effort, their direction was – “We are not looking for leasing signs. We don’t want renderings, or availability listed on the scrims or installations.” The group wanted something more impactful that spoke to the diversity of the East Cambridge community. I worked with one of my designers to create the concept that embodied the neighborhood that existed, and that they were adding to, a color way, and visual language that spoke to that need with out using literal skin tones. This was realized through scrims, and various panels in and around the site.

Environmental Applications
Planning, preparation and installation.

The preparation of files, whether for large format printing, or ADA compliant code signage requires a high level of detail. Plotting out signage locations and confirming the details with a profession code consultant allows more certainty of gaining the certificate of occupancy.

I allot time in the schedule for at least four site visits in the process. The first for initial measurements and scouting photos. The second to walk through with the vendor and confirm their measurements. The third will all parties to talk strategy for installation. And the final on install day to ensure everything runs smoothly.
